DURANGO – Three seniors were tabbed team captain Wednesday night. Goaltender and Team President Hayden Pike, Attackman Ian Bragdon, and Defenseman Gary Swartzendruber were named Captains after a team vote.
“Each one of these guys has been a leader for this team and represent the culture of our organization to a tee.” Coach Tom Mudrak said. “They’ve put a lot into the program over the past three years and it’s only fitting that they’ll be our leaders in their last year here.”
Ian Bragdon came to Fort Lewis from Grand Rapids, Michigan. He comes into the season ranked 9th all time in program history for points and will be relied on this year to lead the attack unit.
Gary Swartzendruber holds down the defensive end of the field for the Skyhawks, a native of Denver, Gary will be the Skyhawks shut down defender, tasked with pacing the opposition’s strongest attackman.
Hayden Pike has started every game of his career at Fort Lewis and will continue that streak on into his senior year. After earning honorable mention all-conference in 2016, Hayden will be responsible for leading the new look Skyhawk defensive.
“I’m very proud of these guys, we’re going to face some adversity this year and these are the guys we will need to get through that.”
