Fort Earns First Win In Long Beach

Fort Lewis got its first win against Long Beach 16-8. After a slow start in the first quarter, the Fort team picked up the pace and finished the first half with a 9-6 lead. The goals kept coming in the second half. Kevin Harkey led the Skyhawks with 6 goals, 1 assist. The game ball went to senior Pat McGrath with 3 goals and 16 ground balls, going 61.9% on face-offs. When asked about McGrath’s play, coach John Robinette summed it up: “He’s an animal.”
The small Fort squad showed their versatility with many players filling in at several positions. This win is an important DII out of conference victory. The Skyhawks will go for their second win against Biola tomorrow to close up the California road trip.
