Waiting for the First Whistle

Friday, February 28th, 6:00 pm, Flagstaff, AZ, Northern Arizona University, South Field Recreation Complex.  The date, the time, and the place have been circled on the Fort Lewis College Men’s Lacrosse calendar for months.  The first game is almost upon us.  No one ever truly knows if they are ready until the moment arrives.  We can’t wait to find out.

NAU handed Fort Lax a disheartening 9-8 overtime loss in the 3rd game of the 2013 season.  It was the 3rd straight one-goal game between the two teams.  The Lumberjacks used to compete in the RMLC, but moved to the Southwestern Lacrosse Conference after not fielding a team for the 2012 season.  The stage is set for a great game, ready or not, here it comes.

On Saturday, March 1st, at high noon, Fort Lax will take on the UNM Lobos at NAU’s South Field Recreation Complex.  The Skyhawks handed UNM a 16-8 defeat last season, and they are undoubtedly looking to avenge that loss.  It is an exciting opening week for Fort Lewis Lacrosse, filled with traditional rivals.  Hopefully the Skyhawks will rise to the challenge.
