Skyhawks Start With a Win

The Fort Lewis Skyhawks lacrosse team opened the 2014 season with a wild 10-6 win against the rival NAU Lumberjacks in monsoon conditions in Flagstaff, AZ.  NAU put on impressive defensive display in holding the Fort to only ten goals despite around 30 shots on the game.  The exact stats are tough to tell because of the constant rain, but the Skyhawk attack was lead by hat tricks from Max Segal and Conor Henricks and 4 assists from Ian Bragdon.  The FLC defense was just as stout, with an aggressive ride helped by the wet turf, and the Lumberjacks could only manage 6 goals with 3 of those coming a man-up.  Goalie Hayden Pike had 6 stellar saves in the second half.  The Skyhawks have a quick turnaround, taking on the UNM Lobos at noon on Saturday in what should be another cold and wet game.
