Fort Falls in Season Opener

After a grueling 10 hour drive into Lubbock, TX the Skyhawks faced Texas Tech.   Walking onto the field with less than an hour to stretch their legs Fort Lewis fell behind early.  This was the first time they had seen grass since November, and the first half was a good indication of the indoor blues.  after a rough first half the hawks fell behind 6-2.  Soon after the blundering first 2 quarters some of the spacing issues were resolved.  Fort Lewis came out and won the 3rd quarter and played the 4th very tough.  However, the game was a classic story of too little too late.  Sean Claussen did phenomenal between the pipes and kept the Fort alive.  Erik Johnson led the skyhawks in points with 5.

Stephen F. Austin Canceled their game with the Fort the day before the game.  The University of New Mexico was down in Lubbock for a few games and was able to scrimmage the hawks on Saturday.  Fort Lewis dominated the exhibition and looks much better coming into their face off with division rival NAU on March 5th.  Fort Lewis will return Matt Lindsley to the roster and should increase their scoring exponentially.  Look for the rust to have been shaken off and a good spring break to come for your Fort Lewis Skyhawks.
